Former Man Utd & Arsenal Star Van Persie⭐ Retires

Robin van Persie (The flying Dutchman) played his last game as a professional in Feyenoord's Eredivisie loss to ADO Den Haag on Sunday.

Former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Van Persie rejoined his boyhood club in January 2018 and said earlier this season that he would not prolong his career solely in pursuit of the Eredivisie title.

The 35-year-old has been in typically prolific form for Feyenoord this term, scoring 16 goals in 25 appearances, but was unable to prevent his side slipping to a 2-0 home defeat to Den Haag.

But as he was withdrawn in a 92nd minute substitution, Van Persie was honoured by both teams, who formed a guard of honour to accompany his final walk off the field as he put an end to a glittering career.

He will not take part in the final league match of the campaign on Wednesday at Fortuna Sittard, which was originally due to be played on April 28 and moved to accommodate Ajax's Champions League semi-final against Tottenham.

"The goal was go out with honour because football is my passion,' the 35-year-old told the day prior to his final match.
Real Madrid's Away Woes😓 Compounded by Sociedad

Real Madrid's woeful away form under Zinedine Zidane continued as 10-man Los Blancos succumbed to a 3-1 LaLiga defeat at Real Sociedad.

Madrid needed a win, combined with an Atletico Madrid defeat, to keep their chances of leapfrogging their neighbours into second place alive, but they failed to gain a positive result on the road for the fifth straight league game since Zidane started his second spell as coach.

Brahim Diaz put Madrid ahead six minutes in at Anoeta, but Sociedad fought back through Mikel Merino before Jesus Vallejo received a red card for handball.

And though Willian Jose failed to convert the resulting penalty, Joseba Zaldua's header just before the hour and a first senior goal for Ander Barrenetxea earned Sociedad their second win over Madrid this term.
Barca Return to Winning Ways✌ Against Getafe

Barcelona responded to their shock midweek Champions League exit at the hands of Liverpool with a lethargic 2-0 win over Getafe at Camp Nou on Sunday.

The LaLiga champions, who were knocked out at Anfield after letting slip a three-goal advantage from the first leg, seemed to still be struggling in the aftermath against opponents aiming for a top-four finish.

Arturo Vidal capitalised on one of the few opportunities Barca carved out in a game played at a leisurely pace, with Ernesto Valverde's men in no mood to over-exert themselves having wrapped up the title two weeks earlier.

Lionel Messi forced an own goal by Mauro Arambarri in the closing minutes to seal a result that allowed Valencia, who won at home against Deportivo Alaves, to leapfrog Getafe in the table.

'It's a Shame' - Bale's Agent on Zidane Snub😳

Gareth Bale's agent has responded to Zinedine Zidane's decision to leave the Welshman out of his Real Madrid squad for the second game in a row, insisting "it's a shame" that the forward isn't playing more.

The 29-year-old was absent from the 19-man squad list for Madrid's penultimate game of the Liga season away to Real Sociedad, with Bale having also been left out of the 3-2 win over Villarreal last time out.

The latest decision to leave out Bale comes following a report by AS that claimed Zidane is keen to sell the former Tottenham star in the summer.

Barnett has now expressed his disappointment that his client hasn't featured more regularly in recent weeks, but that he hopes he is able to continue at Madrid.

Ultimately, though, he accepts the decision will be Zidane's to make. He said: "It's a shame Bale is not playing.

"Should he be playing more after being left out of the last two squad lists? I can only hope that he keeps playing for Real Madrid. But that's up to Mr. Zidane.

"Zidane makes the decision. Is this [Bale being dropped] a message ahead of the next transfer market? You'd have to ask the coach."

Bale is contracted to Madrid until 2022 and has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos this season.
Neymar⚡ Stars as PSG End Winless Run

Neymar scored one and set up another as 10-man Paris Saint-Germain returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Angers at the Stade Raymond Kopa on Saturday.

Angers had taken twice as many points from their last five Ligue 1 games than PSG had managed, but it was the recently crowned champions who came out on top thanks in large part to Neymar.

A week on from scoring his 50th goal for the club, the Brazilian forward broke the deadlock with a diving header 20 minutes in and teed up Angel Di Maria just before the hour.

PSG held on to put an end to their three-match winless run, despite having Marquinhos sent off and conceding a late goal from Flavien Tait.

Inter Close to Rakitic Deal

Inter are closing in on securing a €50 million (£43m/$56m) move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, Goal understands.

The Serie A side, who have been following Rakitic for a while now, are desparate to pull themselves closer to Juventus in the 2019-20 season and want to put together a team that's capable of mounting a title challenge.

The Croatian is seen as a key part of that ambition, while, as reported by Goal, Antonio Conte is also being lined up to replace Luciano Spalletti as head coach.

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with the former Chelsea boss and are prepared to offer him a lucrative contract to take over at San Siro.

Rakitic will bring an end to a trophy-laden five years at Barca, whom he joined from Sevilla back in 2014, having won four Liga titles, four Copas del Rey and one Champions League, amongst other team and personal accolades.

He could yet add another Copa del Rey title to his collection, should Barca beat Valencia in this year's final on May 25.
